zblack280
I was wondering if the front crossmember from a 280 with rack and pinion steering will simply bolt in to one with a reticulating ball steering box setup.
djz
Yeap they can be swapped, it should fit straight in. If its a power steer rack it can be a bit of a pain getting the pump out if you leave it attached to the rack but it is do able.
nbesheer
Make sure you get the crossmember from the new rack. I hear their different.
zblack280
good stuff thats what i like to here, makes the chev conversion much easier and roomier.
Gollum
Yes, the crossmembers are different, not totally, just that the recirc ball type crossmembers don't have the moutning tab points for the rack and pinion rack. But everything will swap over just fine. When I did the conversion I changed the entire suspention, steering, xmember all as one unit because I had it all. Made it pretty easy. zblack280
was also wondering if a z31 300zx crossmember and rack would fit in the 280?
