Need Help Urgently Please! Anyone Have A Spare EFI Relay for a 280Z?

Mods - Sorry that I am posting on here, but I am desparate :( and my car is dead in the water without it.

After 10-12hours of trouble shooting, I determined that my ECU was fine but the problem was with the EFI main relay or the Dropping Relay for the injectors.

Does anyone have a working EFI main relay (located adjacted to the ECU) and the dropping resistor silver box for a 280Z (located right behind the clutch master cylinder)? I am happy to purchase these items from you.

Here is a pic:

Please let me know.

MAny Thanks!

Yasin,

The part in the engine side of the engine bay is the dropping resistors, not a relay. I've never seen those go bad, though I guess it could happen. Easy to test. Verify power TO the dropping resistors. If that is good, then verify power out of the dropping resistors.

Hi Paul - Thanks for the reply. If you have never seen those go bad, then that makes me feel better it might be my EFI relay, good point on testing into and out of the resistors. When I sit there cranking, the tach is jumping, but absolutely no action at the injectors, I triple checked that with a Noid light, lots of hot spark and lots of gas at the injectors too.

To you, does that sound like an EFI relay acting up?

Many thanks- Yasin

The EFI relay is basically 2 relays in one. Well, maybe three. It provides power to the ECU, the injectors, and I believe, the Fuel Pump.

You should be able to probe the connector on the relay to see if it has 12v with the car in the "ON" position. The pin/connector to check should be on the wiring diagram I posted in your other post.

If it is bad, and you can't find an EFI relay, you can cut off the connector and get 2 relays at a parts store, and their connectors (I think Autozone sells nice relay connectors) and swap it out for 2 common ones.

I think it's probably bad as the power source wire for the injectors is kind of big and out of the way, so I think it'd be a little difficult to damage enough for it to stop the injectors from firing.
