rich280zxt
This is probably a stupid question, but I'm stupid with wheels so i'll ask. Can two piece wheels be taken apart? I was wondering if there was a way to make deep dish swastikas, without costing a fortune.
Evan Purple240zt
Well this is easy, swastikas are not two piece. Evan
rich280zxt
oh haha, I swore I read somewhere that they were. Nevermind then!
ShaggyZ
I last heard they are a two-piece, spun wheel. Weird.
Evan Purple240zt
Well, if they are they are welded together. Evan
junglist
i have some of the swastikas in my garage with no tires on them, i can try to take a few pics to put up....when i was cleaning them up i remember thinking they seemed like a 2 piece
Evan Purple240zt
I agree though, they would look killer with some sick dish on them. Seems like something a good fabricator could make happen. Evan
Careless
a competent wheel shop can customize wheels to be a larger size, but it's a meticulous job and the barrel has to be of a proper size and you may lose any taper in the design of the original wheel's inner diameter. For that reason, some places that normally vow to do this kind of work will not touch a classic wheel with a tapered barrel/rim. There is an MK4 Supra that had the stock supra wheels widened to 11 inches to allow larger tires to be fitted while retaining the stock look + 1200hp street legal hp. It can be done. but I wouldn't be concerned about how wide the wheel is, i'd be concerned about how many digits you can stretch your credit limit to. LOL. It's quite expensive to just refinish a wheel with minimal to moderate curb rash or denting (100 a piece)... Imagine cutting a barrel off and strength-welding it, and then refinishing it to look proper. In some cases the outter and inner barrel will have to be cut and re-sized to retain fitment. 4 times the work as refinishing a wheel in most cases. Is it really worth it? I think so, if you really like the wheel
