Comrade_Charlie
I have been hearing that the 2wd 5spd pathys have the z32 trannys(internally). Are there only certain years that have this trans or all 2wd vg30s/vg33 5spds? I think there is a 5spd 2wd pathy at my junkyard so just wanting to know if I should pick it up, should I pick anything else up, or will everything from my 85 work(starter, flywheel, clutch?). I searched but I couldnt really find any realy information on this.
260DET
Don't see why all the 2WD gearboxes should not be similar, what other could they have? Apparently they look like the big Nissan Z31 turbo box, a good thing. Ratios are likely different though.
OlderThanMe
I have the 5 speed in my 04 Frontier with a VG33. Just for some reason I think that a transmission that is for a 200hp truck and can pull 4000+ pounds is going to be a little more beefy than a Z32 trans... If I were to source a VG trans I'd find a low-mile Frontier/Pathfinder transmission rather than a Z32 unit. That is my non-scientific opinion. Comrade_Charlie
There are 2 Pathfinders at my junkyard, 1 is 4x4 and 1 is 2wd... I think im going to buy the 2wd one, even if I cant use it, It is only 45 bucks.
