Guest red_dog007
I have an E31 head, and have heard that you can port out the intake/exhaust valves to use 280z valves. Is this true? How much of a bore can be done, and where can I find these valves? I have searched everywhere for any kind of information and for the parts but I can not find a damn thing. At Autozone, I did find the exhaust valves, but they were asking $18 per valve.
JMortensen
To change the valves you swap out the seats. You can port to match the seat to the head, but the seat needs to be changed, at least on the intake side. Any competent machinist can install the seats and sell you valves. 1 fast z
Seats come square with no angles ground on them Seats HAVE to be ground concentric to the guide after installation. This HAS to be done by someone who knows what they are doing.
Guest red_dog007
OH, ok cool. I am thinking of taking my head up to the ZBarn to get cleaned up, so when I give them a call tomorrow, I will ask them about this for pricing. I am pretty sure that they will be able to do this. I am sure that I don't have to worry about this if taken to the ZBarn, but would the seats need to come from one of the different heads? Another question for you, can I have my stock cam machined to say a stage II or stage III cam, or is that going in the wrong direction?
