Guest znow white
I just bought the msa harmonic balancer http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEM06/10-2139 anyone running these ? I got it because my old crank pulley was soaked in gas for too long and i was afraid of the glue damaged rubber that holds the two pieces this is for a turbo build. Im sure i can physically run this on the page it says from 70-83 byt nothing mentioned about turbo.. is it good or bad for a turbo motor . It says in description its degreed +20 what do they mean by that. Is it already +20 degrees of timing by adding this?! or just the way its marked. Thanks in advance
510six
Model Restrictions: For L-Series engines only. Not for use with smog pumps, power steering, or air conditioning. If your not worried about, power steering, AC , should work fine. The timing marks allow for up to 20* of timing adjustment, you will have to manually check and verify TDC. Mr.INSANE
If you have a 240Z like your signature says you should be fine, This Harmonic balancer should be perfect for a turbo. Consider that most members use the stock OE balancer which is 20 plus years old I'm sure this is a lot better balanced than those are
zguy36
To use this pulley, you will have to use a belt from a 240 motor, not the 280 belt. This belt is a bunch narrower. Also, the pulley is about 15% smaller diameter, so you might even want to go with a tad shorter belt. A good parts store can look up the specs and get you one a bit shorter. As for the pulley, I haven't put any miles on it, as it was installed this winter. Come summer, I'll let ya know!
wigenOut-S30
I have this pulley installed on my L28ET using MS&S. I think I might be off by 5 deg or something. the 5 different timing marks make it hard to tell whats what.. So far I have revved it to 6500 and seems really smooth. jeffer949
Hey guys i was looking at getting this dampner also and i can see spending the 80 bucks on it but what i cant see is spending the 40 bucks for the bolt and washer. Is it really needed and if so why?
z-ya
I have the same damper on my NA 10:1 L28. I run a ZX alternator on it, so I swapped the pulley from a 240Z alternator so that the thinner belt sat in the alternator pulley correctly. I also had to hone the damper so that it would fit the crankshaft without too much force. I also had to file the woodruff key slot to make it fit. I mounted a 36-1 trigger wheel on mine for EDIS, so I had the whole thing re-balanced at a balancing shop. The stock washer and bolt work fine, don't waste your money on the "special" one.
