Careless
if someone gets me the part number of the cross member, I can do a price check.
S30 SPL
Rick's engine brackets are very good..However, WE went for a little different position of the motor (AS low and far back as possible).and our kit includes engine brackes, engine poly mounts, trans crossmember and trans poly mount so it a true complete kit.. you do not need to source engine mounts and make your own trans crossmember. There are different trans crossmembers for different years so we need to know what year you have.. We also offer custom : intercooler kit, radiator, down pipe, throttle cable kit, FULL 3" exhaust system, gaskets, water pumps and after market parts for the RB motors and wiring service .. How low does this kit put the RB25 oil pan to the floor? Will it be significantly lower than the stock L28?
chrism
I had Mack make mounts for my RB20. They are very sturdy. What I like most about them was that they can be adjusted to get the transmission to line up center in the tunnel. The engine sits low and far back enough to allow for a thicker radiator and intercooler pipes. You could tell they put a lot of thought into how the engine should sit. Looks good. S30 SPL
So does this allow the shifter to come through at the original shifter location? How close is your oil pan to the floor? Low is good, but too low is not safe for race or street.
chrism
Shifter is center. It has no problem going into first, third, or fifth. I drive over speed bumps with no problems. The oil pan has plenty of clearance which is more than I can say for my exhaust. It sits just a bit low when going past the axel. Other than that, you should have no problems. There is still room to keep the A/C Pump. This first picture you get an idea of how far from the ground the oil pan is. Also you will notice that there is room to drop the pan and get it out without having to raise the motor. This next pic shows that there is room for the AC Pump mounting bracket behind the cross member. I'm not running the AC but man you can bet it aint gonna be long. NC is burning up. Back on the topic of RB swap kits. I think there are too many options for any type of swap kit other than bone stock. Even with that, everyone is going to want to put in the intercooler. there are may ways to do that. Also, the stock radiator is going to have problems as the RB's have both hoses on the passenger side. That leads to many radiator options. S30 SPL
chrism, thanks for the images. that gives me a good feeling about the kit from mckinney. i think pricing is fair given their amount of work involved to adjust everything right. i feel you on the a/c pump... but that means lots of hoses, and more weight... but it is nice to have a/c with this type of swap. i really enjoyed my civic when i dropped in the integra powertrain with a/c working.
