Juarez88
So I want to know if any of you have any information that can help me out before I set up an appointment with a lawyer or dmv. Is it legal for someone to part out a vehicle without having a bill of sale or title for it? (in california) wouldn't lacking both of these and not knowing the original owner mean that you are stealing parts and selling them if you do so? Anyway, hope any of you can answer this for me! MJLamberson
well I would assume it would depend on whos name the car is under... If its off the computers I think youd be safe, but if it is registered in somebody elses name, well I could see possible troubles... I recently bought a 76 Z, I got the pink signed over but havnt gone to to the DMV to get it in my name, Im not going to sweat it
back-to-zcars
I just have to ask. Are you the one parting out the car, or is someone trying to sell you stolen parts? Worst of all is someone stealing parts off your car and selling them? Dave
MatMan
Oooo this is getting interesting. What would happen if that "someone" took the VIN plates off, and sold THEM to another person to put on an entirely different car?? That one bakes my noodle. amorfin
I can tell you that changing VINs on cars is illegal and should not be done. That would be comparable to identity theft. If you or a friend is doing it don't discuss it in public forums
