dhp123166
My 280z has a pronounced whine while driving. It rises and falls based on velocity or rpm's. It is getting louder as time rolls by. Could it be the flywheel or the gears between cam and driveshaft? It runs fine otherwise...
woldson
Probaly just the fan clutch. The idaler pullies up frount kinda just chrip, from my experence. Problem with your post is that you mentioned the whole engine, front and back, more specific information would be usefull.
dhp123166
The fan clutch has been removed, I have electric fans. Other than that it is stock...

dhp123166
Yeah, it is the pulley where the fan clutch used to be.. I have one other thing; unusual tire wear... I have 265/50 15's in the rear of my Z. They are on 8 inch wide rims. The last three sets I have had wear in the middle like they are overinflated (which is not the case) and they only last for like 15,000 miles. Too much tire? Wrong size? I think I am going down to 225/ 60 15's. Thanks...
