rich280zxt
Alright I haven't been able to find my answer anywhere, so I'm going to ask. I bought an early 280zx distributor for my 240z along with a zx coil. I've heard using this dizzy, it'll put out a lot more spark. Well, I used to have a crane cams xr700 ignition system with electronic pickup- Do I still need to use the ignition box, or will the dizzy itself put out enough spark? I already know I need to eliminate the ballast resistor and how to connect it.
onewildzr
Dont need the box u have the same thing on the side of the dizzy. Just need the harness that plugs in on the side of the module and goes to the coil.
rich280zxt
Thank you very much sir =] I'm going to share these two links I found in case anyone else is wanting to get a stronger spark. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/distributor/index.html http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/
JMortensen
You might want to search "E12-80" and see what comes up. One thing with these distributors that is pretty much always wrong is the vacuum advance is broken. Also, when using electronic ignition you no longer want to use the ballast resistor, so you can just make a little jumper wire to connect to both sides. Then you'll make full use of your better spark.
