Z1NONLY
A quick question on a 78' 280z exhaust. Whould an exhaust leak on the manifold cause idle problems? Some coolant spilled on top of the intake manifold while replacing the thermostat. After start-up white smoke from exhaust and unstable idle. A constant clicking sound also began in that area(thermo housing, injector #1 and #2) at idle. The white smoke eventually burned away but the clicking and unstable idle still there..The clicking go's away when i rev the motor up..Also loss of power at the bottom end of the rpm range..Before then the motor ran real well.. Please help me . Thankyou so much.. jb
datsun723
i'm no expert but could it be that the injectors were somehow damaged? i know the usual "clicking" sound is from the injectors so....
Hyuri
If you spilled coolant on the outside of the manifold and got white "smoke" from the tailpipe, I'd be looking for an intake leak somewhere, which would definitely affect your idle.
