How do you refill 260z Manual Transmission?

I searched the entire website, my haynes manual, my transmission and online but still cant figure out how to refill the transmission.

I have a 260z with the standard 4 speed; i searched the entire drivers and passenger side of the tranny but still couldnt fing where to refill it at.

If someone could tell me or put a icture of where its at it would be greatly appreciated.

It's been a while since I've done it, but if I remember correctly, there should be a fill plug near the backup light switch.

Yea there is, and you have to get a pump to pump it in. I usually buy the gear oil in a 1 gallon bottle which comes with a pump. Not all of the brands do.

Or, to do it without a pump, you can get a piece of 1/2" copper tubing about 3 feet long with a 90 degree fitting on one end. The 90 goes into the trans with the lengh of pipe going up through the engine comartment. From there you can insert a funnel into the pipe and fill with gear lube. It takes a while but it works.

I've done it by two different methods. The first time I bought a long piece of clear pvc tubing at the hardware store. I made sure it was the largest diameter that would fit in the fill hole. I filled it from the top using a funnel to get the gear oil into the tube, and consequently down into the tranny.

The other method I used was a pump. The pump had a piece of pvc tube on the end, so it was the same basic principal, but I was filling it from below the car.

Also want to add that if you cannot get the actual plug off, you can take off the reverse light switch and fill through there. Ive done it a few times.

Thanks for all the help but idk how big of a pain in the ass it will be to get off. I tried getting that 17mm off on the rear differential and that didnt work at all eve w/ a hammer. So i guess ill be taking the moustache bar off so i can get to it w/ a 19mm 12 point socket.

 

While on the subject of the driveline i was curious to know what size bolt i should use for the drive shaft because the other day i notice mines wasnt connected and there was no site of the original bolts.

For the driveshaft I used a standard bolt that was 5/16 X 1 1/4. Just threw a lock washer and a nut on it, It hasnt been a problem for over a year.
