jacob80 Posted September 26, 2008 Share Posted September 26, 2008 Hey guys, has anyone else had problems taking this fuel line off? It was tough just separating the injector and hose section from the fuel rail, but getting the hose off the injector is nearly impossible. I've tried side cuts and got it down to about 1/8 of an inch and now I cant get it off. What should I do about these stubborn hoses? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Challenger Posted September 26, 2008 Share Posted September 26, 2008 Cut the metal at the base with a wire cutters. There is a fitting that is crimped on and by cutting from the side at the base of the fuel line you can spread it apart and pull it off. Id get some pics but I sold all my injectors. nyshred Posted September 26, 2008 Share Posted September 26, 2008 Grab the injector hose with a pair of visegrips as gently as possible and twist the line back and forth on the rail until it breaks free. You should be able to pull it right off then . It worked for me, but I wasn't going to reuse the injectors I was taking off. If you plan to reuse them go slow and easy so you don't tear up the fuel hose coming out of the injectors too bad. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also, there is not reason to remove a fuel injector and not replace the hose.... trippintl0 Posted September 26, 2008 Share Posted September 26, 2008 Just follow the FSM's recommendation - use a soldering iron to burn right through the old hose, then you can peel it off fairly easily. New fuel-injection hose will slide on (after some force) and seal, although some people still put hose clamps on the injector. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I dont want to damage the injector because I will be reusing them and putting new hose on. There is actually some sort of twine within them that makes them even harder to get off. Sam280Z Posted September 26, 2008 Share Posted September 26, 2008 Yes, use the soldering iron to melt a slit down inside the metal retaining ring (not crimped on). The new hose will them push down in there (with a little WD40) and seal without the need for a clamp. There is no need to cut on the rings.
