Pete84
I got to talking with my brother about the performance of the early Z cars, and for the life of me I can't remember seeing any empirical data comparing the early Z's to say the Corvette or 911. I remember reading a multi comparison of several import sports cars, Fiat, Triumph, etc, but never anything pitting the Z against the icons. How did they stack up in stock form? 0-60, 1/4, lateral G's, slalom, etc. Perhaps someone has some nice scanned articles? And this came up after I got some quotes on smog exempt Zs from Hagerty, which look very promising. Actually affordable, but that is for another thread. amorfin
I read that with the 350 the vette's 0-60 was in 7 seconds, while the Z's was in 8 seconds. The 1970 Porcshe's 911E 0-60 was 7.6 seconds. The vette with the 454 did the 1/4 mile in 13.8 seconds. I think the Z with a stroked L6 can do that.
blue72
All I could find through a quick search of my hard drive was a Nissan brochure for the 240Z which states its standing start quarter mile time as 15.8 seconds.
Mikelly
The real problem was that the Zcar was dominating the group it was classed in, so it was moved up and compared to the vette and the porsche. It held its own back then, but was the "bargain" performer. Mike
Challenger
I saw a recent comparison, look at the difference in the quarter mile time of the 240z and a comparable year full size sedan. Then look at the difference today. Take the 350z and the Aura, the they are within a few tenths of eachother in the quarter... kind of sad.
