Guest senatE
ok so 2 night ago i got a 280zx with the l28et its a 83, i have not a clue about these cars since i have come from hondas and chevys to nissan so basically what i am wanting to know is is this motor worth building at all. the car i got is a automatic to so if i do swap it its going to be with a ls2 with the 4l60E tranny. and i will be boosting that if i swap it. but i want to know if this motor is worth building b4 i get into fabbing up the chassis for a swap or if i should just swap it. i mean money isnt a problem but id rather go the easy route if this motor is worth keeping. and the head gasket on it right now is blown and leaking like hell on cyl #5 so i dont know if the guy b4 me got it hot or not but im going to be replacing the head anyways just so i wont have to clean this one bc the oil is full of antifreeze like hell. i want to make a lot of power maybe between 600-800 whp so let me know what you thikn bout all this. i have searched for 3 days now and i cant figure out what to do. im also new to this site but not new to forums. big-phil
here is that motor making 342 at the wheels here it is making 403 at the wheels here it is making 648 at the wheels http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=140128&highlight=dyno If money is not the problem. Then do you want a V-8, or the original straight 6. I get many many many many many people at gas stations and what not, yesterday at "Chicken express" drive though saying is that a V-8? Then when I tell, and show them its a turbo 6, they think its very cool. Don't get me wrong I tried to buy a v-8 Z but was beat to it. I would love to have both. PanzerAce
Read this first: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=84860 But as for getting to 500 or 600whp, at that point you'd probably have to talk to one of the guys that has already done it. PanzerAce
For the tuning, why not just tune it yourself? There's a forum here on HZ dedicated to each of the major standalone ECM systems, atleast one of which is designed to be easily tuned by the average gear head. As for swaps, I know into S30s it would be an L28et or SBC, but I'm not sure if an SBC would fit a S130. Honestly, you'd probably be fine for awhile if you just cleaned your current engine up, put a new turbo on and a bigger exhaust + FMIC.
