S130 vibrations

Since I bought my used 79 2+2, I have had a vibration that starts at about 80 mph and keeps getting stronger the faster you go. I had the wheels rebalanced and checked/adjusted the front wheel bearings. I also tried to check the front suspension and it seemed like the inner tie rods were ever so slightly loose on both sides. I'm going to order a new set but for now it seems smooth until 55 mph and then the vibrations seem to lessen up to just noticeable. Any thoughts?

What can seem like a small varience by hand can translate in to larger results under load.

IE. My brother had a vibration in pass side rear, we removed the bearing, and it ever so slightly had a tiny winy catch. Almost inpreciable.

Under load, it vibrated the rear end a whole lot!

Seems like you are on the right path!

try your ball joints as well, ive had those do the same, but if the tie rods have some wear, change them first. to do a better test, drive the car on ramps or on a drive-on hoist, get someone to wiggle the wheel slightly, take a light and watch the suspension parts move. it will give more resistance than moving it jacked up by hand.

Not too long ago i started to notice a small vibration in the rear end of my Z and as i drove it more it got worse untill i thought my rear end was going to fall off!! I took a look under the rear end and found i broke my drive shaft u-joint!!! So check all moveing parts and those old brittle and cracked urathanes too. Well not urathane material but you know what i mean.
