kj280z
Hey all, I have been searching and haven't had any luck. I am seriously considering a LS1/LS2 swap. I'm not a big fan of the T56, but will use it if forced to... I was wondering if anyone has any experience adapting the LS motor to the Z32 5 speed tranny? If you can point me in the right direction that would be great... I have 2 spare Z32 trannies laying around and I love the way they shift ect... Thanks
JMT-Z
No one, as far as i know, has mated the two and for good reason. The Z32 5-speed is a decent tranny but the t56 is stronger. If thats not a good enough reason then think about your gear ratios. The 1st gear on the Z32 tranny is geared for much less power on the bottom end. It will be completely useless with the LS1. After that you are pretty close through 5th but in the t56 you have that nice double overdrive which gives GM their very decent gas mileage figures. rags
Ken, Go for the T56. Once you install an aftermarket shifter (Pro 50, Steeda, MGW,etc) the feel is very nice. I got used to it very quickly. Joe
Dudeboy
There are few hot-rods using the TKO 500 and 600 behind LSx power plants. If I had only found a good deal on a engine only, I would have went the TKO route. Alot of the bugs going the TKO route have been worked through by now. I will say the T56 is a great transmission, but in a my vette I rarely use the 6th gear.
