Guest 500charger500
I'm not asking how to do it ....I just wanted to know why it is a good idea when pushing up boost, cam, injectors and horse power. What is bad about the stock ecu? Thanks, Greg
Bernardd
The 300zx ecu is tunable with inexpensive software easily available.
nando280zxt
I guess you can start with the fact that the 280zxt ECU is programmed to run on the stock 260cc injectors. Therefore, you can only really up the boost to about 10lbs. With the z31 swap you have more options available in your EFI setup. Some swap the stock AFM to a cobra MAF. Some things like timing is controlled by the ECU so you'd need an encoder disk from a 300zx yada yada yada. The details of the swap are all over the site. When it comes down to it, its probably better to use Megasquirt or another EMS. It all depends on what the goals are for you car. You need lots of time and $$$$
Comrade_Charlie
I have heard that the 300zx ecu has a richer fuel map. plus you can use a maf and not a afm. I dont think you can use a maf on the 280 ecu
