senoooooooo
has any one cut there rb25det oil pan to fit inside there 260z or S30's. I can't seem to find the rb20 oilpan anywhere, and when i do they just take a long time to tell me its been back ordered for awhile. If any one has im just wondering about the baffles inside and if the loss of volume to the oil pan has any dramatic affect on cooling. oh yeah and if it has been done. kinda depressing when the motor is in but just not quite. mtnickel
I'm in the same boat as you. More that I can't justify the cost though...they are available from nismoparts.com i think. I like to weld though and will basically just cut the entire thing off about 1" down from the flange. Cut off the oil pickup...reposition it and braze it. then cut away whatever needs to be from the baffling to refit the new sump location. While i'm working on it, i'll likely "wing" it, that is box out the bottom to add about another 1-1.5L of capacity. I won't be doing this though for a few weeks as i'm pretty busy with work right now. But good luck, and post any pictures of your progress. Oh, and the dip stick needs to be relocated, but there is info on this site of how to do that. Mark

senoooooooo
yeah im pretty new here i guess. i havn't really posted anything really i don;t really know how im building this thing or if people want to even know about it. It seems one time or another people have posted like every question like twice but when you can't find it, well you can't find it.(i.e. type the right keyword) but yeah so far on the oil pan situation i asked my sister in japan to try to look for it. she ios not a car person, nor really am I, but i told her the car names and part numbers ect. Im hoping her magically sends me an email saying she found it. but til them im planning to cut the sump like this guy did on here for his rb30 oil pan. he just didn;t seem to finish his project i think cuz last time i saw it he just ended wit cutting everything . but it seems do able. senoooooooo
ps... nismo parts do not have the part for the rb20 oil pan. kinda not happy with them. they just didn't give me a confirmation on shipping the part for like 3 weeks. so ii called and they said some guy will call you back. then he didn't. so i called again and they said they are back ordered and well im like number 14 in line for people who has ordered this. so by this time its been a month when i finally knew, well im not getting the part from them. it was near holiday season so i guess that could have set them off guard and not call me or even refund the money but i guess its more just frustration talking on my part. fast-datsun
Nissan has stopped making the pans accourding to Nissan USA... We have a new pan in the works that will be a 7 or 8 QT cap. and fit the S30 chassis. proto-type out for estimate on manufacturing, hand built as mass production cost to high...
