I bought the car about a month ago and the guy told me that it might need a fuel pump soon due to the fact it wouldn't rev over 4k. I did some searching and seen that the TPS could be the problem so I disconnected it and the problem went away, bad TPS. This past Friday I finally get a TPS to replace the old one and on my way home after a stop at the store I'm getting all new problems. I can give it about 1/4 throttle and it will run fine, past that and it just starts to back fire like crazy and if I go past maybe 3/4 throttle I get nothing except a back fire every couple seconds. So I'm thinking that maybe the guy was kinda right and it does need a new fuel pump. Anything else I should check before I go spending money on a new Walbro? FlatBlack Posted January 13, 2009 Share Posted January 13, 2009 That sounds like what my N/A L28 was doing when my fuel pump was going out, I'd try that Before you buy a new one change the fuel filter, your gas tank might be really rusty and it's stopped up. evilgrinner Posted January 13, 2009 Author Share Posted January 13, 2009 New plugs, timing is good, haven't checked the AFM, all sensor connections have been cleaned and dielectric grease has been applied, just changed the fuel filter today.
