giorgio61
I got a T-C rod kit from the PO that I want to install in my '73, but am missing the preload gauge that comes with the kit (the u shaped flat piece of cardboard or aluminum that comes with the kit). Does anyone has one that can measure and give me the correct span? Thanks George
thehelix112
I think it depends on the kit how much preload you want. Is it the gmachine one? If so, and noone beats me to it, I'll measure it when I'm near the car again. Dave
giorgio61
I really have no idea as to the manufacturer here is a pic maybe it looks like yours? Thanks in advance. One more question, did you use a polyutrethane bushing or the oem rubber? I've read of PU bushings breaking rods at the shoulder before the threads even using the T-C kit. George My t-c kit looked just like that. The span across the measuring device is 57.5mm (2.263773 inches according to my conversion program). Can't remember what bushing I used at the rear 'cause I'm old and can't remember anything that I did 2 years ago.
thehelix112
I used a poly rear bushing, but I drilled 8 holes through it to loosen it up for moving the TC rod as jmortensen hinted at in some thread or other. Haven't driven it yet so I hope it works. Dave
giorgio61
Yellowfever, I know how you feel, I'm getting there too...LOL!. Thanks for the measurement. thehelix112, I'll try the 8 hole trick, after all I now have new 4 PU buns and hate to spend more money getting the OEM rubber ones. Thanks guys! at-jefft
Duralast Makes the rubber ones for 4.99 each FYI I just ordered a set, I figure $10 is worth not having a high speed t/c rod failure
