  1. Thanks but I'm just missing the rear brackets and front spacers.
  2. Since I never got an answer and no hope for one from Modern Motorsports, may be someone has a set of rear conversion brackets (240sx calipers) and front hub spacers (vented toyo 4x4 conversion) for sale. Thanks.
  3. Check out this thread, lots of step by steps and pics. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/39295-cleaning-tail-lights-pics/page__view__findpost__p__317844__hl__%2Bcleaning+%2Btail+%2Blights+%2B%28pics%29__fromsearch__1
  4. Does anyone know which of the two pins is the (on-off) switch and which is the gauge (variable). I want to use the on-off switch output signal for an aux electric fuel pump cut off relay/timer in my 240 project (no oil press, no gas), but I don't have a '78/ZX sender yet for me to test.
  5. Thanks Jeff but I found one locally.
  6. Try Bruce at partsdinosaur.com, good prices too.
  7. Thanks but I need a std size (86mm) one.
  8. Thanks texasz, that is exactly what I need: one standard size, stock flat top piston for 80-83 non-turbo 280zx. (F54 block).
  9. Main bearings. You need to check if they are std or oversize , you can buy a set here http://www.store.partsdinosaur.com/product1259.html or your local auto parts store
  10. I need 1 std flat top f54 piston to replace damaged one. Thanks.
  11. #3 post Use POR15, it can be applied to already rusted areas which will happen to welds very quickly. Just try to clean the parts as well as you can before welding, POR15 doest like oily surfaces. Check out its use here: http://www.por15.com/Data%20Sheets/POR15ApplicationInfo.pdf
  12. Hey Boricua when is this event? I go to PR about quite often for work and have always been on the lookout for Z's (as I am everywhere!). I would love to attend if I'm there. Next month I'll be in Fajardo for a few days (at El Conquistador and yes...working), including a weekend which again its a great opportunity to rent a car and drive to the other end of the island. Saludos. PS. My avatar pic was taken at Mt Britton Tower way up in El Yunque. You can almost see I'm soaking wet!
  13. If you search this forum, there is plenty of info on finding a baseline and the adjusting your carbs to perform properly. I recommend replacing that fuel hose you replaced with the appropriate fuel tube or even do a rebuild. You can get it from ztherapy or paltech. Oh and identify your carb type.
  14. By the pics you can tell that car has sat in water above the floor pans many times (settled grass on floor pic and mud marks on flat tires) that means that the rails and floor pans are probably very rusted plus the humidity inside will take care of everything else above the floors like the hatch area. Even as a parts car is iffy, I'd say $150-200 if you need an engine/tranny. Rust rust rust: is the major problem and most and labor intensive restoration task in these cars, the mechanicals were designed and built to last forever.
  15. Howler, I don't know if its too late but Bruce @ partsdinosaur sells a timing set for 45 bucks, can't beat that anywhere. I'm still looking for my 28et for $50, I know its out there...
  16. I remember my '78 had two lifting eyes in the engine for this purpose but I suppose that over the years these were removed in many cars. The front one on the spark plug side where the mechanical fuel pump would go, the other is at the rear attached to the last manifold stud by the firewall. They provide a very balanced lifting point for the engine and tranny package.
  17. Here is a couple of pics of the stuff
  18. I got the info on the tail light assembly (lens to housing) sealer. Its called Roof Strip Mastic and it comes in a whooping 45' roll but its only $4.98 at Home Depot SKU 714021. Anyway I found its also great to seal loose rubber body plugs, hold screws in the screw driver and a many other uses!
  19. That looks really good! In my case my original diamond pattern vinyl is in really good shape, so I did not want to carpet the tunnel or vertical area behind the seats, that meant that serging (carpet edging) was necessary at least on all visible borders. I washed all the vinyl pieces and, and refinished them with a coat of vinyl paint, black in my case, then I re installed the original horsehair insulation and glued the vinyl down. As a noise control material I used two layers of an aluminum backed self adhesive (very aggresive glue) roll material sold at the roofing section of home depot, it comes in 6" wide rolls and is A LOT cheaper than overpriced Dynomat or other materials that, acoustically are essentially the same: a vibration dampener. I then made detailed templates out of heavy paper and tape of all areas to be carpeted and cut them all out of 80/20 loop auto carpeting. I cut the perimeter about 1/4" bigger to allow for some fine trimming. I searched the net and yellow pages for auto carpeting suppliers and found several. Shipping can get expensive with these materials. A few calls to area carpet stores yielded nothing, so I called a local rug cleaner business, the kind that cleans persian rugs, and got numbers for companies that do serging in my area. The cost per phone quote, (I'm in Houston) is $1.20 fer foot, but will shop around some more as I got quotes for as much as $3.00. I will do the floor perimeter except for the door sill that gets a trim piece, total about 10 linear feet per side, plus the hatch area.
  20. I'd say the headlight switch (half of the combo switch) overheated. Those switches are prone to overheat and even melt due to the high amperage that flows through them. There is a fix for this that uses a couple of relays and works very well. I highly recommend you do that. These are available pre-made plug and play from zstore, blackdragon and others, and if you do a search there are plans and instructions for the DIY.
  21. Really, whatever you do, don't buy a chinese made crap, you're a 100 times better with a used Miller or Hobart from craigslist than a new one from HF...personal experience.
  22. If I use the 240sx caliper/maxima bracket combination what is the right rotor to use? I thought the 240sx caliper only worked with the Modern Motorsports bracket and the '84 N/A 300zx non-vented rear rotors.
