Tim240z Posted January 22, 2003 Share Posted January 22, 2003 This is the earlier 'weak' version of the 700R4. In 1987 the input shaft was beefed up. These ones were apparently pretty troublesome. Yes it was more than just the input shaft, it was the internals too, but the input shaft splines are the easiest way to recognize the older ones. The newer ones had a 30 spline shaft....
