jay260z
Ive got a sbc mounted with the JTR mounts with a edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold and a holley 4160 what air filter will fit if any under the stock hood? From what I have seen from searching, everyone either has the torker or the performer manifolds and can fit a drop base air cleaner witch is what i want to do. Has anyone got any type air filter setup that will clear the stock hood using a perfromer RPM? thanks
jt1
You can fit a 14x3" air cleaner if you use a drop base. The Z28 repro bases work well, along with the Edelbrock drop base. jt
Pyro
it will fit if you use a drop base filter housing and if you used the 1/2 inch body spacers.
jay260z
Ill have to do the 1/2 inch spacers to be extra safe
lazycat5
I use the jtr kit with the 1/2" spacers, a 14" with drop base and 3" filter. No problem.
jay260z
Sounds like a plan to me. How much of a drop base are you using?
lazycat5
2" drop base on top of 1/2" N.O.S. plate on top of performer rpm air gap.
jay260z
thats exactly what i need.
pparaska
I used: -JTR engine mounts, - Professional Products "Crosswind" copy of the Edelbrock Airgap RPM (not sure if the carb flange height is exactly the same), DID NOT USE THE JTR 1/2" spacers between frame rails and crossmember I used a 1/2" (divided, wood) spacer under the Holley 830 HP carb (to get the air cleaner to clear the extended thermostat housing to get a radiator cap above the thermostat at the highest point to bleed air) My air cleaner is the Moroso 14x3 dropped base. I have VERY LITTLE clearance, less than 1/4", but it does not hit the stock hood.
