melfice_mx
I currently own a L28et 280z with 4:11 Diff and basic mods.. i just bought an lt1 with all the wiring harness, ecu, etc in perfect condition for 600$, but the problem is that it came from an automatic caprice... how hard would it be to put a manual tranny and do i need to replace the flywheel too? sorry i'm need to the v8 world.. gvincent
This is covered in other threads. Yes you do need to replace the automatic plate with a manual flywheel. If you are using the T56 for the LT1 you need the pressure plate, clutch disk, throw-out bearing and you need to swap pilot bushings on the crankshaft. Need to re=program the ECU but you have to do this anyway.. Search, there is plenty of really good info here. Greg
melfice_mx
wouldn't the gearing be too short with the 4:11?
deja
The T56 is a double overdrive tranny 2.97:1, 2.07:1, 1.43:1, 1.00:1, 0.80:1, 0.62:1. wouldn't the gearing be too short with the 4:11?
melfice_mx
what if i keep the stock auto tranny?
deja
The 4L60E auto is a 4 speed overdrive with 0.70 4th gear. Depending on your tire size you'd be taching 2700-3100 at 70 mph. 4L60E gear ratios: 1st 3.06, 2nd 1.75, 3rd 1.00, 4th 0.70 I'm running a 3.7 rear gear and 205/50x17 tires, taching 2450 at 70 mph. My old 3.54 tach3 2350 at 70 MPH. Use this calculator: http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/tyres.html
