Engine bearings(help Ron,Brad)

Ron or Brad may help here. I'm thinking since my car is in the air and the bearings are so easy to get to, I'd go ahead and replace them. My front main will surely be abused with the continual high belt tension.(common problem with high boost belt drives.)I want to know what the best bearings are. Clevite 77, Fedral Mogal, what? I remember seeing an H stamped on my last set of clevites. Is this a harder bearing? I know you drag racers run the $%#@ out of your engines and see the insides more than the rest of us. What are you using? What is the most durable? Thanks

According to my Lingenfelter On Small Block Chevys Book, the Clevite 77 bearing is the prefered unit. That is also what is in my motor now, but Others might have a different opinion!

Mike is on the money,Clevite 77 is what I use.The H on the bearings tells us you have H-series bearings. They make a P-series,H-series and V-series.I also use the H-series,they are a very good bearing.

Ron, What do the P,H,V stand for? Which is the hardest material?I upgraded to the "H" last time. Is the V a step above? Also when are the chamfered rod bearings preferred?
