Guest pinchilitus
I need help. I have a 74 260z with dual carbs. it takes for ever to start, i have to pump and pump the gas pedal and run down the battery before it barely turns on. after it finally turns on, which isnt often, i have to keep the choke on and keep pumping the gas for awhile. once it has ran for about five minutes then everything seems fine. i turn it off then i turn it on again and it fires right up. i try it again the next day and nothing. i have to do the same proceedure again. can anyone give me any hints on what it could be. MONGO510
Make sure the choke cables are fully closing the choke plates. IIRC those carbs have a choke pull-off diaphram... cke to see if they are still intact.
Leon
We don't even know what carbs you have. If they are Hitachi (SU style) then pumping the pedal will do nothing. The carbs probably need cleaning and adjustment, if you're sure the other systems in the car are okay.
