RUZN
So As all know. I have installed the 300zxt ECU in my 1981 Turbo 280zxt Mods List: 1987 300zxt Turbo Ported (also wastegate hole) 1987 300zxt ECU 3 Pin O2 sensor conversion (Altrom part number 25000301 fits stock 280zxt downpipe thread) 60mm Throttle body with custom Cable linkage Ported IntakeManifold *32.5mm to Head* Ported Head intake *32.5mm* 1986 Maxima 60mm MAF (6pin) Adjusted Distributor ignition timing 1987 300zx Injector pigtails 1986 300zx TPS 3" Pipe from downpipe to rear Magnaflow Performance Exhaust 3" inlet 3" outlet Replaced Fuel filter with 300zxtt Z32 filter Increased Fuel line size by a tad Stock Fuel rail *so far* FMIC (coming in mail) Adjustable FPR set to 42PSI Removed all Vacuums not needed (ie. automatic climate control, VCM, Cruise control unit) Egr plugged ACC plugged Coldstart gone So now the Clutch Question. I have some good power under the hood so far now. What I am doing is using my Stock T5 BorgW 1981 280zx N/A tranny with the 225mm Clutch & Flywheel this weekend. So how much can will that stock one take. Cause im prolly in the low 200's in HP as my compression is excellent. Thus I was thinking of just getting a Really stiff beefy 225mm ACT clutch kit with the Fidanza Aluminum flywheel in the next few months. So when I reach a Higher HP rating say 350hp that should be fine to use correct? Cause I figure I should be able to use the Stock N/A clutch for now and just not ride her to hard while going to school and save up for the Act/Fidanza stuff later with new Injectors and Fuelpump yes?... woldson
Frist: N/A it is not a T5. Second: In good shape the clutch you have will hold 200hp. Thrird: More ponies then that, get a 240mm (turbo/2plus2) flywheel, or (what ever flywheel you want, aftermarket). Forth: get the fly and pressure plate balenced, if stock 240mm, get it lighented. The 225mm to 240mm is a DIRECT swap!
attworth
I agree with Woldson, might as well just get a 240mm combo if you plan on putting more power down eventually. I had a Fidanza and Centerforce Stage II in my Z31, which was 99% stock otherwise. It was a nice combo.
RUZN
So the Automatic Turbo Flywheel will be 240mm then correct? So the 225mm Clutch Bolts right to 240mm Flywheel? no weirdness? or do I need to get the 240mm Clutch. Im Dumb n the head right now so. the 225mm I have now will i have to take the flywheel off the one Z (5speed) or can I leave the 240mm on the Turbo and run the 225mm Clutch
woldson
Autos have flexplates. Honest, just get 240mm flywheel and 240mm clutch assembly. Are you going to get a lightened one, or get one lightened?
