240z turbo temp gauge not working properly

Hey guys,

 

got my swap done and it runs great, only problem is that the water temp gauge goes all the way hot as soon as the power is turned on. My only guess is that the sending unit is from the donor car (280zxt) and the gauge is the original 240z. Would that cause the problem? i tried connecting 2 other stock gauges and same problem. Any help would be great. Thanks

If I remember right that would mean the gauge is good but the sending unit is bad. I was told if you just ground out the wire from the gauge it should peg all the way hot. So this indicates you gauge is good. I'd get a new sender from the parts store. I had to buy a new one and they're cheap.
