Dammit Paul, making us all be considerate and open-minded. Whats wrong with you.

I'm not going to write a novel, as that would probably be difficult to read. Just very broad statements follow:

thez,

Differentials fall into three categories:

1. Open

2. Limited slip

3. Locked

You can make an open diff locked by welding it, which is very cheap.

You don't weld a limited slip or locked diff as they are already driving both wheels.

Chances are you have an open diff at the moment. You can weld your existing diff to make it locked.

If you want a LSD diff, some Subaru diffs will work, but you'd need to do more research on which precise one. Research means search.

I hope my English was understandable. If not, private message me and I'll try to clarify.

Dave

thank you dave for the easy answer

you gave me a grate answer , and thank you all for your posts, and its a happet here in kuwait to thank any body that give you any help what so ever that help is.

for that i want to ask you dave what type of Subaru lsd diffs is better for a 1979-1980-1981-1982-1983 280zx cars .

thats my main qustion.

because they use a lsd diff here but no body in kuwait knowes the name of this lsd diff, so i searched in the web until i got here in this forume and fonde the answer.

the lsd diff we use here are called

10000 diff

9000 diff

7000 diff

but no body know what company makes it because it only comes in these names frome japan directly to kuwait .

and that why im asking for , is to know there names so i can order them for myself and install them in my 280zx car.

and may be selling a few of them .

welding diff here in kuwait is verry cheap and popular.

but tha lsd diff that makes both wheels turn together that we dont have a lot of them acsept the ones i named up in this post.

so know i know there is a suparo lsd diff that can be installed in a 280zx car frome model 1979 to 1983 , but the thing is i dont know the right type or the right name of them , or the right year of the making of this lsd diff

and the 10000-9000-7000 lsd diff we have here are being weld after removing the original diff , because the lsd diff dosnt match the 280zx plase so the garag man weld it .

we call this welding diff.

i hope im clear to evrey body .

What do you plan to do with the car? if your trying to do stuff like that

then your much better off just removing your stock open differential and having a trusted welded weld the spider gears together.

If your just trying to do burnouts and having fun it's much easier, and cheaper to weld the stock diff.

You can search here, or google to how weld a differential.

welding the diff will not surviv to long and you gonna have to replase it with a new one.

but when you have an origenal 2 shift diff frome its manufacturer better then welding

so thats why im intrest in a diff that is original lsd like the suparo r200lsd.

but the thing is that i dont know the right model year for this diff when i want to buy it .

i well bring the picutres of the diff we have here and you tell what type and model it is thats what i want to know.

hi there

these are the picutres for the diff we use in kuwait .

and we dont weld them frome the insid like you did , we only cut the arms and weld the 280zx arms to the diff and it work .

know pleas tell what is the car that comes with this diff so i can look for it to buy this diff , because no body is shor what brand they are or what car they come with , some sayes its for a 1986 to 1989 nissan 300zx , but no body is shor

as you see i only know that it is called here

10000 or 9000 or 7000

why we call them these names its because its writting on it .

but the 10000 diff ( you will see thats it is writting on it 10v16) but we call it 10000

here are the picutres for you to tell me what is the brand or the car that i can find these diff on them so i can buy them .

===================

ps: some pic need to be rotated for a clear view

1- the 10000 diff pic

http://upload.swahl.com/m2/swahlcom_a4c6b.jpg

http://upload.swahl.com/m2/swahlcom_874eb.jpg

in this pic you will see its been writtin on it

10v16

http://upload.swahl.com/m2/swahlcom_fe3d9.jpg

and in this one they wrote on it 10v06

http://upload.swahl.com/m2/swahlcom_7cb4a.jpg

and the difrens as the seller saye is one of them is electrec .

=======================

2- the 7000 diff pic.

http://upload.swahl.com/m2/swahlcom_82ac4.jpg

========================

3- the 9000 diff is like them but i didnt found any of them to take a pic for it .

so if any body can tell what cars does these diff come with and what model.

some sayes there for the 1986 -1987-1988-1989 300zx

and some sayes ther for 1990-1993 twin terbo 300 zx

so experts tell what is your opinion on this issue i have for you .

Ok, so the 7000 differential seems to be an R180, the 9000 an R200, and the 10000 is apparently an R230.

Search with the terms R200 LSD will pull up what you can get these differentials from. I hope this helps you find what you need to know.
