laschmanstanding
here it is. I have a 77' 280Z with a new rebuilt chevy 350 V8 and auto 700R4 trans. the old speedometer is mech, and 700R4 is electric. Is there anything out there that adapts or converts electric to mech And will fit my 280Z? where can I find or order? or any other ways of getting one hooked up. I don't really want to tear out the old one out of the dash ...
Bigdeezs
this the wrong section for your post... but try John's Cars Inc. www.brokenkitty.com they have a box that does what you need. I think it costs like $250 or more tho.

GrayZee
You could also consider doing a autometer 5" speedo/tach swap, they fit nicely into the dashes of old Z's

laschmanstanding
Sorry everyone if this is the wrong place to post. I saw it was for chevy V8 and in 70's Datsun Z cars so I thought this is where to go. Anyways all your input has been a great help. I went to the first place of brokenkitty website and called them. They said no prob and are sending me a cable that adapts Datsun to chevy in the cable itself. I am figuring that I will still need to get this converter box to go from electrical to mech. But this way I should be able to stay with the factory gauges. Any thoughts will be helpful as I am very new to this. I always loved cars and always wanted to get dirty with them and learn how everything works. I imagine it's like anything, trial and error and wasting lots o' money. lol
