Im pretty sure everything needed is in this sticky thread... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104735

Which year brackets do you have? When I ran my maxima conversion I used the late 280ZX calipers....and rotor.

The flat Maxima brackets will not work, but their are two other Maxima brackets that will work for a rear disk conversion. Here is a basic list I have put together years ago for the two versions on the Maxima bracket that are of the "bolt-on" style.

Port D: Small Rear Disk, Small Pad Brake Conversion 280ZX 4 X 4 1/2†lugs. Major parts include:

1979-81 Nissan 280ZX 15/16†master brake cylinder

1982-83 Nissan 280ZX rear caliper and hangers

1982-83 Nissan 280ZX rear rotor 4 X 4 1/2†lug pattern

1980-84 Nissan 810 Maxima Sedan rear bolt-on brackets that have the floating dust shield

No E-Brake extension available after market but they can easily be fabricated. Rear axle must be removed to install the hub brackets.

Port E: Small Rear Disk, Large Pad Brake Conversion Maxima 4 X 4 1/2†lugs. Major parts include:

1979-81 Nissan 280ZX 15/16†master brake cylinder

1979-81 Nissan 280ZX rear brake calipers and hangers

1979-81 Nissan 280ZX rotors 4 X 4 1/2†lug pattern

1980-84 Nissan 810 Maxima Sedan rear bolt-on brackets that have the screwed-on dust shield

E-brake extension available after market and they can easily be fabricated. Rear axle must be removed to install the hub brackets.

Best of luck on the conversion.

Damn i was sold flat brackets telling me that they worked

I guess that was a waste of money huh

Yes thanks i have looked at that thread

it jumps back and forwards between front and rear and makes no sense at all

I read it and just got confused

Ya that sticky really isn't cut and dry, and goes off in several directions. Worth the read though. It is also worth noting that the Maxima had the same hardware BUT some of the hub brackets are welded on (well most I've seen were welded). What your looking for really is the hub bracket, select your caliper and rotor based on the hub bracket. The small pad version of the rear conversion uses the bulky caliper that looked like the front calipers used on a B200 (if memory serves me correct). I would recommend the other set up with the larger 280ZX/200SX/240SX pad. What your really after is the bracket pictured on the sticky on page #5 post #93.

Here is a good link:

This is my rear brakes set-up I hope any of you can find an answer here

here's a pic showing the difference between the 81-84 and 85-88 maxima brackets

(click pics)

In the beginning I also brought a set of the '83 280zx calipers, but they didn't fit. I went back to the 82 maxima and took the calipers as well, apparently the '79-80 280zx have the same calipers with the small pads, but I'm not sure, but apparently in many stores they have the same part number (do your own research) at the end I used a set of '82 maxima rear brake brackets and calipers and a set of '80 280zx rear brake discs

you will need to remove the stock maxima cable bracket and weld the one of your s30

This is the set up for the Port D set up. I do not prefer this set up. Just my opinion. But an excellent look at the other bracket with the screwed on dust shield. Also the rotor is unique to this set up, unlike the Port E which uses the more widely used rotor on the Maxima, 280ZX, 240SX, and 200SX.

Here is another link where he used the brackets you have:

ok.. the results are in.

This conversion works!... but it was a real headache... There are literally dozens of modifications that must be made for these parts to work effectively. Another note is that the small piston 240SX calipers will provide proper brake bias when combined with the vented 300ZX front disks and the largest of the 4 piston Toyota calipers. I feel that the larger piston Maxima calipers may have too much rear bias. I used the 240SX calipers.

I can't find my pics of the completed milled brackets

Here is a pic of the un-milled rear brackets mounted on the spindle. You must remove 0.195" of material from opposite sides of the bracket to allow room for the hangar between the bracket and the disk.

Here is the caliper mounted with additional spacers mounted between the hangar and the caliper pin-ears. These spacers are neccessary when using the 240SX caliper with the 1986 Maxima Hangars.

I use Hawk blue pads on the front and Hawk black compound on the rears. This worked very well at Road Atlanta this past weekend. front to rear bias is PERFECT!

Here are some pics showing the blueing of the rotors. This shows that they are doing their fair share of the work.

I would never do this unless you own a machine shop. Ross's conversion does all of this with minimal hassle. The Modern Motorsports kit is well thought out and WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!! KUDOS to Ross for really thinking this through. His kit is the best combination of parts with perfect rear bias when combined with the vented 300ZX front rotors and Toyota calipers.

....

Here is a good post for anyone interested in brake conversions.

Im thinking about making a spacer that goes behind the disc to move that out

I want more offset in the back anyway as i am using zg guards on this car.

They are a floating disc so i cant see it being an issue other than the added weight which i was hoping to avoid

You may want to see if you can find an aftermarket hat what you can bolt an aftermarket rotor to to get the offset you need. This would be an added expense for you, but you would get better rotors, lighter parts and maybe even an aftermarket caliper that you could bolt on. I haven't looked into this but WillWood or someother manufacture may have the answer for you. I also have not done a search here on Hybridz for such a conversion.
