turbojohnny
i have a set of 195/60/14's, would it be a huge deal to use them to replace the 195/70/14's that are on my 280Z?
burninator
I doubt you'd have issues, they should just be a little taller (something like 2cm). You'd have to be lowered pretty far if you don't have that much extra space. It's gonna give you a bit of a taller gear ratio, and your speedo will be off. ZR8ED
Uh. The other way around dude. He wants to put 195/60's on his z and take off the 195/70's Equals smaller diameter, speedo reads higher than actual, a bit more zip off the line, and higher revs on the highway. Scott. turbojohnny
i would prefer to not replace the tires with the smaller ones, but the tires on the car seem to be from 1982! they still have plenty of tread, and surprisingly aren't dry rotted. but i don't think i should trust them. sweetleaf
As mentioned above, your speedo will be slightly off but you can use those tires without a problem.
deja
I wouldn't trust tire that old no matter what they looked like. Assuming you're running 3:54 rear gear and your final tranny gear is 1:1 the 70 series will tach 3365 at 70 MPH. The 60 series will tach 3588 at 70 MPH. http://www.corral.net/tech/gearcalc.html i would prefer to not replace the tires with the smaller ones, but the tires on the car seem to be from 1982! they still have plenty of tread, and surprisingly aren't dry rotted. but i don't think i should trust them.
