Changing to a slightly different coil.

Recommended Posts

I've got a 71 240z

I am changing from the original coil to this one.

I always visit the same Lordco for parts. One of the employees there owns 3 240zs in excellent shape, and knows every bolt widget and tube on every part of every Z.

I ordered a coil, and went to pick it up today. He advised I use not the one similar to stock, but the one I linked to. It comes with a resistor, is more compact, and more modern.

Sounded good to me. So I took it home and realized I don't know how to hook it up.

I know which bit goes to the cap... but that's it.

I hope someone can help poor excitable me.

Which Dizzy are you running? If you're running the origional points, here's how I wired it.

B+12v to one side of the resistor

other side of resistor to + side of coil.

-Side of coil to breaker points.
