thewaiverproject
I had my alignment done this morning since the car was pulling to the right. (s30) suspension is mostly stock - adjustable camber. I paid them 86 bucks for a 4 wheel alignment. when it was done and i paid, they told me that they only can get the front aligned, and not the back. they just said it was really misaligned and i need to go to a chassis specialist. i was late for the first day of school so i didnt think about it much and left. was there a point for them to even do the front since if i get the back aligned by a specialist, they would have to do the front again anyways? i also didn't ask why they can't fix the back, im going to call them tomorrow. but any ideas on why they cant do anything about it? the car still pulls to the right, and i know that i can drive it just fine as long as i dont floor it ( when i do the car will sometimes suddenly shift to the right or left ( while going straight) even if i white knuckle the steering wheel). so i feel that i definitely have to get it fixed. anyone have an idea of the cost as well? thanks. auxilary
i didn't know kragen shops did alignment... weird.. but to answer your question, the rear suspension does not have adjustable toe, camber, or caster from factory. If memory serves, and I'm sure jmortensen or johnc will correct me, stock rear suspension is toed in slightly from factory.
thewaiverproject
how i meant kragen wheel works. so i guess they couldn't adjust the back since the stock rear does not have adjustable camber etc... they would have to shift the whole axle parallel to the vechicle, or whatever factory spec it supposed to be right? so i guess i have to take it to an autobody who specializes in suspensions.. guess its time to call around for rates. Sounds like you have worn/ loose suspension/steering components. I would start with a thorough inspection.
auxilary
yep, as jasper said, tighten your suspension and torque down bolts to spec, and you probably have some extremely worn, if non-existant, bushings
JMortensen
Only factory alignment adjustment you can make is front toe. Well, you can shim in some caster too, but that's it. There is no provision to adjust front or rear camber or rear toe. Did you get a print out of the alignment? Give us the specs and we can make suggestions. A good alignment shop will tell you "We can't align your car because the ball joints/tie rods/bushings are shot." Did they say anything like that to you? Did they say anything like that to you? I agree. If they didnt give you any info based on observation, I'd say they probably just saw "Not adjustable" on their computer and left it at that. Hopefully it's just the bushings.
