JMortensen
Uh... don't earlier turbos ALSO have the finned cover but without the LSD?
FlatBlack
My 86 Turbo doesn't... Not saying it didn't happen though.
Scott_M67
Did any early '87 Turbos with LSD ever come without the finned cover. I know the LSD came out after 4/87 so I wonder if any ever left the factory without the fins. I'm going to look at a supposed original LSD from a '87 Turbo car being parted out and both axles do turn when you turn one by hand BUT no finned cover. I'm going to look at a supposed original LSD from a '87 Turbo car being parted out and both axles do turn when you turn one by hand BUT no finned cover. Both axles need to turn in THE SAME DIRECTION. If you can jack up the back of the car, you would also be able to try and turn them in opposite directions. It should be possible, but takes a lot of force with the LSD. An open diff will easily spin the tires in opposite directions.
Scott_M67
Thanks Jim, the guy just dropped the diff out so it should be easy to check out, I'm just curious about the cover not being finned. I probably wouldn't bother with the expense of using the finned cover if it had one anyway.
