joker72z
I tried using the search to find a thread that would assist me in identifying a 5 spd I have been offered but I am stumped. There are no really clear stamping marks that make sense but I will list what I can see. There is a number " 7Y09617 " and another stamping " 45 - 10-18 " and some numbers inside the belhousing. I'll attach a couple of pictures that were provided and will greatly appreciate anyone letting me know which trans it is. Cheers and thanks Chris
MAG58
I could be wrong, but from the looks of it, it appears to be the early 280Z five speed, the wide ratio with the relatively short overdrive.
m4xwellmurd3r
looks like a 280z transmission. I could be wrong though
joker72z
Thanks Bob, I was unsure and before I pay for it, I wanted to confirm this. The early 5 speeds also had the 5th gear share the same fork as reverse didn't it? Any issues with that or should I be looking for a late model trans where they are independant of each other? Once again...thanks
Xnke
All the FS5W71( or © transmissions have a 5th/reverse shared shift fork. It doesn't seem to be an issue; at least I've never heard of one. Did break a R/5th shift fork one time, in my cousins's 240SX. pain in the butt!
