  1. Nope, no argument at all. I just can't believe there aren't many good caps around. Everyone wants to sell what they have but the pins are broken and the chrome is peeling yet they are still worth $25-30.00 each. If by chance you can tell me what the center hole diameter is, I will try and source some aftermarket stuff that will fit and post it back here. My eagle caps are metal and would work but I don't have the wheels yet to test them. (in transit). Thanks guys for the input...always valuable
  2. I'm in agreement with JSM that the caps need to be pretty much 100% or I don't want them. I have the 6 spoke caps with the steel spring clips and I am also going to try my Eagle caps that I bought for the old Appliance wheels. One way or another, I don't want to be chasing a center cap across the highway if it pops loose. My .02
  3. If that is the case, what options are there to replace them. I bought replacement eagle caps for my appliance basket weave rims but they are 14" and I want to go with 15's. Has anyone found a suitable aftermarket cap that fits? If someone could provide me the center hole measurement, I will check around..my wheels won't be here until next week. thanks Chris
  4. Thanks Jamal but if I am going to buy them, I need 4. I will try my other caps as well once I've cleaned up the wheels to see how well they fit.
  5. Fantastic... that's exactly what I wanted to see. I'll still keep my eyes open but in the mean time I have caps I can use. Cheers and thanks Chris
  6. That's very good to know. Any chance you have a pic of them on the wheels? I didn't think the tabs were long enough to grab so I am hopeful in hearing you are using them. Chris
  7. I just picked up a set of 15" Swastika wheels for my 260Z but there are no center caps. I was looking to see if any has a clean set of 4 or 5 they want to part with. I have a set of 5 center caps for the six spoke wheels in great condition that I could trade or offset the price with. Please let me know what you have and how much you want for them. thanks Chris
  8. This was my baby when I lived in Vancouver, BC. While not perfect paint, it still stopped traffic everywhere I went.
  9. Here is the link on Craigslist... http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/1503339971.html Good luck in your search. Chris
  10. When I lived in Vancouver, I drove 6 hours to Portland to see the first of my 510's and I flew to Boise Idaho to see the second of my 510's....my 240Z was local (lucky). If you are serious about buying the best car you can....make the drive and look at it for yourself. Only then can you truly be content and confident in your decision making. I'll fly across the country if it means getting the right car. 4 hours is nothing to drive these days. good luck in your search. BTW- Did you see the nice green 240Z for sale in Surrey? It's an auto but that is an easy swap and his car is pretty darn clean. Cheers, Chris
  11. That's money well spent Scott. I had an estimate to do the floors on my black '72 when I was out west and the costs were almost 3x that of your guy. I'm definitely going to keep his information handy when I need work done and go see him... Glad to hear the work is what you expected....would love to see some pics if you get a chance as I want to see the extra reinforcement around the lift points. Merry Christmas Chris
  12. I'm in Ontario as well...Toronto to be exact. Can you tell me which shop are you using for your work as I don't have anyone here I can trust yet. I left one of the best guys back in Vancouver so I am looking for a reputable place to bring my 240Z. I always enjoyed your car...radical and yet very appealing. I look forward to seeing the new floors and the work done. Cheers, Chris
  13. I don't think he was quoting your classified ad Project Z...It looks like the ad was from a fellow in Vancouver who apparently found a stockpile of parts and wanted to retire on the sale of those parts. I do however agree that if a buyer feels the price is too high, then move on and keep looking. I personally don't need a commentary from someone I may have never met on how my pricing is out of control. I think we will find out quickly enough if no one buys our stuff. My 2 cents
  14. Here is my fairly stock engine bay on my old black 240Z...It was pretty clean with a few pieces polished or plated to make it pop when the hood was open.
  15. Thanks Bob, I was unsure and before I pay for it, I wanted to confirm this. The early 5 speeds also had the 5th gear share the same fork as reverse didn't it? Any issues with that or should I be looking for a late model trans where they are independant of each other? Once again...thanks
  16. I tried using the search to find a thread that would assist me in identifying a 5 spd I have been offered but I am stumped. There are no really clear stamping marks that make sense but I will list what I can see. There is a number " 7Y09617 " and another stamping " 45 - 10-18 " and some numbers inside the belhousing. I'll attach a couple of pictures that were provided and will greatly appreciate anyone letting me know which trans it is. Cheers and thanks Chris
  17. Small world indeed...it's a beautiful place in the summer with the lake right at your doorstep. You should see it now with all the building and commercial plazas going in. It's crazy.
  18. There is one on ebay right now and has a day left. it is being offered by a guy in Vancouver who does restoration work on z cars and the quality is excellent.
  19. Hi Dave, It's actually in Innisfil, just south of Barrie as my parents cottage is down by Lake Simcoe. It's funny that you would know Haliburton but then again, when I lived in Vancouver it seemed like everyone knew where Barrie was.
  20. Empire, I bought the grey one in September and then had thoughts about selling it foran even better car but it looks like I am going to keep her now. It will be stored after the long week end and then I can start planning on the upgrades I want to do. My black one was so nice but I think with some time and $$, I can make this one an even better car. More power, new steel fenders, ZG flares perhaps and some 16x8's to fill out the wheel wells. Where are you in Toronto? I'm in North York. Chris
  21. When I lived out west in Vancouver, I finally found the car of my dreams. I drove it as often as I could while making minor improvements but eventually I sold it prior to moving back to Ontario. It was a black '72, numbers matching with not much other than a mild cam, polished engine bits, lowering springs, BRE air dam and 15x7 Konigs. Now that I am in Ontario, I found a decent '72 that has been worked over pretty well. It now sports FG fenders and full FG quarters. Not sure I am digging this but I'll work with it and see what can be done. It's got a warmed over L28 with SU's bu that's it. It'll get the full treatment come spring but for now it's time to put her away before the snow flies.
  22. My black '72 came with the aluminum slots and they were fine for a while but I eventually went with the Konig rewinds..15x7, 0 offset and then lowered the car using the eibach spring kit from MSA. It sits much better and isn't too extreme for what I wanted at the time. The grey '72 sports some period ATS cromodora's 14x6 for now but I'm thinking this car will get ZG flares, lowering springs and some 16's...not sure if I will go with the Konigs or perhaps the XXR 513's.
  23. If you live in Cali, keep looking. I've scoured Craigslist and found countless cars for decent money. This would be a car to chop up and make a long long term project. If you want to drive it and work on it at the same time....save your dollars and look for a better candidate. Just my humble opinion but I hate wasting hard earned dollars.
  24. Thanks for the kind words...I am a stock sort of guy but have new floors going in this winter courtesy of Charlie Osborne @ Zedd Findings and I'll be giving her a new coat of black as well. The only other thing I want right now is a 5 spd upgrade and some sunny weather to get out and drive.
  25. I have been reading the posts here for quite a while and thought I would join so I can benefit from the information and experience of what seems like a good bunch of Z lovers. My toy is a 1972 240Z with only mild upgrades such as electronic ignition(pertronix) and mild cam work. Everything else on the car is pretty much stock with the exception of the paint and some detailing that has been done. I hope you all like it. Chris British Columbia
