"The (US market only) 280ZX Turbo was offered with a manual transmission; this was a Borg-Warner T-5 5-speed model (this was the first Nissan and Japanese car in general which used a non-Japanese transmission; the T-5 was also used, most notably, in the GM F-bodies and Ford Mustang) in addition to numerous other American domestic vehicles." Does this mean a T-5 (Is there more than one T-5 ?) transmission can fit the L28et engine and has anyone done this, how was fitment ? Thanks Hybrid Z ! He would also need different input and output shafts from the datsun trans, theirs also a reason why you keep a spare t5 stashed in the corner. Tempered Posted November 20, 2009 Share Posted November 20, 2009 Yes, and I also thought I'd score with the 83 T-5 bell housing mated to a Z31 T-5. There is a ton of posts here about the T5 swap, world class conversion, Gforce trans, etc. I'm predicting this thread is inches away from the tool shed.
