beebeecivic
I just received my walbro 255 pump and on the pump it says "20 amp required". My question is , is it necessary? if yes, do I put the fuse on the negative or positive line? Also can I put the fuse onto the old existing line and add the fuse from there? thanks! bee. jc052685
Run a dedicated relay and fuse on the positive side. Yes, you need 20 amps.
beebeecivic
Run a dedicated relay and fuse on the positive side. Yes, you need 20 amps. So I can put a 20amp relay+ fuse at the end of the existing positive? and from the Relay to the pump. thanks again!
jc052685
Use the current pos+ to trigger the relay. Run the constaint 12v directly from the battery, place fuse at the battery. Ground near the pump. Make sure all of your connections are 100%!!!

beebeecivic
So I am still kinda confused on how to install the pump but here http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuelpump/upgrade/index.html the guy just reused the old positive. I know thats not safe; can you recommend or give me a picture of what the relay might look like? thanks!
Scottie-GNZ
The relay should have 4 connectors or possibly 5. If you look at the bottom where the blades are, they should be marked 30, 87, 85, 86. If it has 5, the 5th will be marked 87a but you can ignore that one. Here is how to wire up the pump/relay: - Run a 10g wire from the battery to the 30 connector on the relay. Put a 20a in-line fuse on that wire - Run a 10g wire from the 87 connector on the relay to the pump + - Connect the original pump positive wire to the 86 connector on the relay - Connect the 85 connector on the relay to ground. 18g wire will suffice - Run a 10g wire from the pump - to a good ground. Note the use of 10g wire and make sure you have good connections as previously stated.

Zmanco
If you have a Radio Shack nearby, try there first. Last one I bought was about $5 while the local autozone wanted about double that.
