Skittle
I say go for it. I had a 88 turbo coupe and loved how it got up to speed. I was pushing almost 24 psi in it. I would sugest a 90-94 ranger roller rocker upgrade as well as a FMIC. The stock top mount IC is ok but for more HP then you deff want a FMIC. I would also go with an aftermarket FMU so you can add bigger injectors. All in all I was putting down around 270'sh Hp. Couple that with the BW-T5 the thing was a beast. JoeDoogN
Sorry for the resurrection of an old post! But I just picked up a 72' 240z with the 2.3p swap in it. And i gotta say, for stock set up this thing gets up! As mentioned there's a large market for upgrades and interchangeable parts. I bought the Z from my automotive teacher, who's been building hotrods/race cars for 20+ years. He did the swap, and I gotta say did a pretty well job. I can't speak for the swap difficulty, but I'll say the end result is impressive. I'm looking forward to building on this, and seeing its potential. Has anyone else done the swap? smokehouse_83
They make stroker kits for them that are real reasonable. Up to 3 liters, made for the roundy round guys. Also look in the the Eslinger ARCA and the Eslinger hipo aluminum cylinder heads. These engines will make 1000hp with a stock block and a good head. JGug1
There is at least one 2.3 Turbo running in an MGB. I have an MGB with a 2.3 Turbo sitting in it but the project is not running and is in line after one or two others. But, WHY go with that engine when thenew Mustang 2.3 Turbo can be had? There are wrecks that can be bought and the entire drive line put into a Z31. THAT is the project I would love to do.
