Placement of aftermarket Knock Sensor

Hi,

 

I'm about to fit my knock sensor (KnocksenseMS)

and I'm interested in finding the best place to fit it, on the block or in the side of the head,

I think I answered my own question, from looking at the picture, the head looks like it will have to do, no room to fit it in the block,

 

will this affect it ?

 

engine specs are

N/A L24e engine

P30 Block (standard dished piston)

N47 Head

440cc Injectors

Megasquirt II, running extra code

EDIS

Intercooled

3 inch exhaust

Im interested to see how much power you make with the L24, currently I'm running 13pound bleeding to 11 above 4500rpm, my last power run net me 148rwhp.

In the majority of engines I've seen with knock sensors, they're mounted on the block. On my M104, it has two mounted about halfway down the block casting over cylinders 2 & 5. If you get it too close to the combustion chamber, you're going to get a whole bunch of noise in your signal.

You want it in the block close to the top of the combustion chamber. If you mount it in the head it will pick up a lot of valvetrain noise that could be interpreted as knock by the sensor. The sensor is microphone and want it closest to what you want to hear.

I read this to, yesterday.

I'll need to remove the coil pac and see whats behind it, this is a L24 engine, so I'm not hold my breath to find something good to connect to.
