Delasangre4231
If I were to buy a set of wheels that have paint on them how could I go about removal without damage to the chrome lip?
hoov100
tape off the chrome with two layers and bead blast them?
Delasangre4231
The paint is over the chrome too!
chipo280z
i used brake fluid and did not damage any chrome, but first try it on a small part to see what happens. Brake fluid will remove it really fast.
Sonethirty
Not sure about over the chrome, but I used the airplane stripper from autozone on my 240sx's valve cover, then buffed it up and it looked great. May not work if chrome is under there though.
jmai86
Why do you want to remove the paint? To repaint the center a diff color? If so, you really don't need to strip the existing paint. Just sand it smooth and paint over. The original coat will act as primer I never understood why people go through the hassle of stripping original paint to repaint (especially if you're just rattle canning). Delasangre4231
No, the centers are stock. Its the chrome lip they painted.
jmai86
No, the centers are stock. Its the chrome lip they painted. Oh so you want to remove the lip paint, but keep the chrome looking good? In that case.. you could try using some aerosol paint stripper. Spray it onto a some towels lightly and gently dab away at the top coat. Then immediately remove the residue. Might take awhile but it might work. I'm not sure how chrome reacts to paint stripping chemicals.
Delasangre4231
Alright, I will try that, assuming I get the wheels...
