Miles
I have a chance to buy a 72 240z with a 350 V8 and a broken saginaw 4 speed manual transmission. The 100R rearend is also broken. The car comes with an extra rebuilt saginaw transmission and I plan on replacing the 100R rearend with a 200R from a 280z. Question: is the saginaw a good choice for street use and what is required to replace the 100R with a 200R rearend? Do the half shafts have to be replaced or can the 240z halfshafts still be used? RickB
Hey Miles....I can only comment on the Saginaw trans. I had one in a V8 Vega years ago and it held up well. While obviously it doesn't have the reputation as other standards I found it to work well as it has a very steep first gear. I never broke it and the car went 11's with nitrous.
