ra240z
Hi, First thanks to this great site of information, and please ignore my bad English. As I have read me thru several topic about camshaft and headwork, I havent found what I need yet. Its probably in here some place but I give this topic a try. Okey, I have a engine from 280ZX 83 mod. and my goal for this engine is 200 ++ whp and good power/ torque at low rpm. I am going with triple 45 with TWM air box, 6 - 1 header and 2,5 exhaust. The rear end is 3.9 R200. As most of the topic I have found is about power at very high rpm I wonder what type of camshaft I should use for good power not only at high rpm. I want my car to be very streetable together with good power if possible. This set up is for my 240Z from 71. Thank you for your time Rolf Arne
sbooth
Try an AZC cam kit or Rebello's basic performance cam listed on their web site. Both are good jack of all trades type street performance, and work well with 8.4 to 10.5 compresstion street engines such as yours. They are both .480 lift and 275 ish duration gross figures. Good luck
PanzerAce
I'm running a Rebello 63D cam, and it's quite streetable. The key to remember is that Zs don't need that much low end power since they're so light, and your rear end is going to help a great deal with that as well. Dtsnlvrs
I am running a custom Isky grind, but anything around 490 lift 290 duration will easily get you where you want to be.
