240sx TPS on 280zx TB

Anyone mod a 240sx TPS and/or 280zx TB to work with eachother? I'm debating whether or not I should just get the entire 240sx TB with TPS, but I already have the 280zx TB and I can get the 240sx TPS for next to nothing.

I was able to do this by using large washers with the bolts from the 280ZX throttle body that cover the "wings" on the TPS and hold it tight against the throttle body. It's been working well for over a year for me. I'd provide pictures but the car is getting painted right now so I don't have it on hand.

I cut up a 280zx tps and left only the "wings" but all the way through.

Then I tack welded the 240sx one onto the wings.

Works fine and I use it with a M30ecu which requires a potentiometer type TPS.

There's plenty of throttle shaft length and I would assume you could go both directions with the mod.

Hm..I'll have to check out my TB in the morning, I'm not sure what you guys mean by the "wings"

On a side note, do both style TPS's have the same pigtail connectors? (I.E. can they interchange? or are they different all together)

Hi Pat,

I suggest that you just go ahead and get the 240SX TPS from the junk yard, you will see immediately what needs to be done. You need to slightly modify the sensor mounting bracket so it fits the mounting holes on the stock TB. The connectors are different, that is why you need to cut the harness on the junkyard engine so that you have both ends of the connector.
