we had one in my shop, only ever used the arc setting. worked well, just have to know what your doing, but I would expect the same quality from the other settings

I did some research, it looks like Chinese junk masquerading as USA built equipment, several people have complained about not being able to get repair parts

this quote on AMAZON tells you a great deal

"

Currently unavailable.

We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

I personally think it's hit or miss on these types of things. Probably due to the lack of quality control.

That being said, I have one of these 'chinese junk' plasma cutters and I've had no issues with it yet.

Also, repair parts are really hard to find, unless you're savvy in the electronics category.

But the consumables have been hard to locate as well.

For reference, I have a 50 amp high frequency start plasma cutter. Cuts 1/2" at about 1 foot per minute.

I almost bought one of them recently but after the reviews and research, I figured I wanted something more dependable and easier to keep running. I just bought a Hobalt Handler 210 Mig Welder and a Northern Tool brand plasma cutter. I'm really happy with both and glad I spent the extra money, plus consumables and parts should be alot easier to get.

BOC Australia sell the following entry level ACDC TIG Machine.

http://www.bocworldofwelding.com.au/aitdownloadablefiles/download/aitfile/aitfile_id/69/

Spot the difference between it and the one on EBAY.

BOC ones costs $2500 for just the machine, EBAY one is like $1500.

This is a Plasma Cutter they sell for about $1k with the Torch.

Once again spot the difference between it and the one on EBAY.

Only difference is the price is smaller, its more powerful and has a longer warranty :-)!

I personally wouldn't buy a multi-purpose machine though - Mainly because the TIG will be sh£t!

Those cheaper TIG Machines usually don't have AC Frequency adjustment, so you will probably struggle Tig welding alluminium with it, having said that old School Transformer style TIG's usually don't have AC Frequency adjustment either.

BUT..............If you flogged it for a couple of months I really, really think it would die on you - if you only occasionally use it I think you would probably get years of service out of it.

I have a gianttech plasma, arc, tig machine and it works great. I don't have any complaints. It doesn't weld as good as my Miller syncrowave 200 though but it does the job. It came with a warranty for 3 years and the customer service is awesome. I had a problem with my food pedal and Larry (the Gianttech guy) fixed the problem fast. I use the plasma part all the time and it has never let me down.
