rusty72
first of all i am sorry for the newb question and yes i did search but to no avail. so here is my question, what turbo would i want to use on a low mileage L28et to make around 275whp? im looking mostly at efficiency. i have spent the last three hours trying to figure out compressor maps and a/r ratios and am numb. the car will be daily driven on premium 93 pump gas and intercooled. i am not too concerned with price, i dont need the best turbo in the world just need one that isnt made with 1970's technology. would like a fair compromise between price and technology. thanx in advance. motoman
Go check out garretts website they have a lot of good stuff to help you choose the right turbo for your set up. Edited April 28, 2010 by motoman
jc052685
Gerrett has been builting their turbos in mexico for a while now. I hear they are having problems. I am using a turbonetics 62-1/.63 a/r with a stg5 wheel. I am very happy with it. It made 242whp/274wtq @ 7psi.

Pyro
if you plan to use a stock cam then use a stock turbine. the stock cam power band matches the spool of the stock turbine very well. If you add more cam then open up the turbine to a stage 3 or 5. a stock non turbo cam is a nice upgrade for stock turbo engine (gives about 500 more rpms). as for the compressor. use a T04e-50 trim. use a water cooled center section because it has a better bearing. external wastegate with 3 inch exhaust would run well for a 275rwhp engine. plan on using 15 psi of boost to make that power with a stock cam. need to add more fuel with more boost. so an aftermarket efi system will be required or a FMU. rusty72
so you are recommending a t3/o4e 50 trim with .63 a/r. garrett has one for $600 without the water cooled center section. that is the one i was leaning towards based on the compressor maps at atlanticz.ca plans WERE megasquirt II and ford edis but since pallnet is no longer making fuel rails i dont know what im going to do. i dont really want a jsk unit because i like the newer o-ring style injectors. however, from what i've read the jsk unit is a very good fuel rail and i could get over my preference of o-ring style injectors. are there any other options for fuel rails? the motor would remain stock internally with a 60mm tb and slightly worked over intake. i see alot of shaved and bored n42s being used so that likely would be my route as well. letitsnow
PM pallnet, I'm pretty sure I read that he's still taking orders via PM. If you were so inclined, you could use the stock fuel rail and ford CFI injectors(500cc).
