bjhines
rust (rust) n. 1. Any of various powdery or scaly reddish-brown or reddish-yellow hydrated ferric oxides formed on iron and iron-containing materials by low-temperature oxidation in the presence of water. 2. Any of various metallic coatings, especially oxides, formed by corrosion. 3. A stain or coating resembling iron rust. 4. Deterioration, as of ability, resulting from inactivity or neglect. v. rust·ed, rust·ing, rusts v.intr. 1. To become corroded. 2. To deteriorate or degenerate through inactivity or neglect. 3. To become the color of rust. 1. To corrode or subject (a metal) to rust formation. 2. To impair or spoil, as by misuse or inactivity. 3. To color (something) a strong brown. rust adj. rusta·ble adj. The word rust must also be included in any description of an S30 Z-car. Rust is the most important word used to describe a Z-car. Rust has one of the largest influences on the price of a z-car. Rust is the most expensive thing to fix on a Z-car. Pictures of rust are worth millions of words in relation to a Z-car. The word rust and Z-cars have been associated since 1973, only 3 years after it's introduction. The word rust and protection were used together by Datsun dealers to inflate the prices of the Z-cars on their lots. The pictures you are showing are interestingly avoiding areas that rust occurs on Z-cars. I can SEE RUST in the pictures even though they seem to purposely blur rusty areas. Any descriptoin beyond RUST and measures taken to fix it are meaningless in determining the value of a Z-car. zxtoy
I agree- no mention of having or not having rust currently or repaired in the past. Also no mention of if it actually runs or how well it runs. Even a low mileage engine can have been ridden hard. I'm not knocking your car just some suggestions to your ad.
JSM
Agreed and Agreed, I noticed the elimnation of said pics too. From speaking to him on the phone, he said there were only two small areas on the body. If it is the orignal paint, it will be very obvious to find the rust on the body. I know all about rust issues with Z cars. Running and rust issues aside, other thoughts? Verbally over the phone were down to $4000. 19762802+2
What are you going to use it for just a daily driver? If so I think it looks really nice aesthetically and sounds like a good deal if everything he says is true. I'm not a big fan of the rims but thats not a big problem. sticky280zx
Also please tell him next time to take the extra 30 mins and drop the tank to get that passenger bumper shock out. Overall looks like a nice car and 3500-4k would be a good price if it has little-no rust and runs well, no oil burning, hiccuping, etc
JSM
Made the 8 hour round trip and passed. It was original paint, but it needed to be re-done. There were to many dents to contend with. I'll keep looking.
