Mike Mileski
So, i was putting together my z and i put the new hatch hydraulics only to find out they are too long. Does anybody know the correct size of the hatch hydraulics i need to get? You not only need the correct length, you need the correct poundage rating. You're either going to have to get them at a junkyard or go to someplace like PepBoys and buy some new ones that are listed for your car. Josh280z
I went to advance auto parts and got some replacements, unfortunately they are the wrong length

Blown77Z
Hatch Strut These are for a 240z, however, I don't see why they would be different for a 280z. Maybe slightly different mounting holes? Hell, if they don't work, take them back..........

Blown77Z
240 uses only one strut, 280 uses two struts. But will the 240z strut fit the 280z hatch?
Dan Juday
Here you go: http://www.autopartsbylou.com/lift-supports-products.php?make=NISSAN&model=280Z&year=1976&type=mmy&x=14&y=13 I've bought from these guys before. Good prices, good service, no problems.
roger.svoboda
those of you talking about 240 and etc might note that he claims a 79 280zx in his signature. perhaps he got a 280z set because he didn't correctly identify what car he wanted them for. newbies often don't realize the 280z and the 280zx have different bodies altho on quick glance they look a lot alike. wagon jon
I took my zx hatch struts to AutoZone. They came back in two days with the correct ones. Work great! Part number 4800 14010. Check it out!!
Josh280z
I took the hatch struts back to the parts store. They had ordered the wrong ones. They even paid for the extra cost of the right struts(Granted, it was only maybe a buck or so more).
